PLAYING AT HICKORY POINT
We are the first Club with an inland site for beach soccer in Central Florida. The idea of building a beach soccer court came from our new Director of Coaching Anderson DaSilva, a Brazilian native who was introduced to the game in his homeland. Beach soccer is a great tool to aid in conditioning and improve the strength of player's ankles and knees.
Beach Soccer "Sosiety" opened at Lake County Soccer on Saturday June 7th, 2008. Players interested in playing beach soccer at Hickory Point MUST have a parent sign a medical / liability waiver and it must be notarized. Visit our Registration Page to print the form. Membership to the travel teams not necessary. All ages are welcome! Please call Mike Stone at 352 874-4677 to verify availability. We suggest a group of 6 players minimum.
Rates: $5 per player

Orlando Sharks...Press Release
Two Sharks Scheduled to Play in FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup
Jorge Valle and Antonio Iriarte Travel To France to Play for Mexican Team
Orlando, Fl - May 19, 2008
Orlando Sharks forward Jorge Valle and Goalkeeper Antonio Iriarte are competing on the Mexican Beach Soccer Cup Team this summer in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, to take place in Marseille, France from July 17th - July 27th.
Beach Soccer originated at Leme Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and was just recently recognized by FIFA in 2005. This July in Marseille will mark the first time the tournament was organized by Beach Soccer World Wide (BSWW). In 1994 the inagural Beach Soccer World Championship was played on the Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, drawing the first network television attention for the sport. The exciting nature of the sport has helped it to gain television coverage in over 170 countries worldwide.
Players number five on each side (including goal keeper) and unlimited substitutions are allowed during the three 12-minute periods. The pace of play is similar to that of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), with high scoring games (average of 11 goals per game), golden goal overtime like MISL and free kicks on goal for all fouls. Shoes are not permitted and throw-ins from the sidelines can be taken with either hands or foot. Having sand as the playing field creates a dynamic that leads to acrobatic kicks, shots and ball handling that would impress any soccer fan.
